Well Shymalamadingdong! He still gots it! “Glass” Review

When i dashed over to the Arclight Hollywood after picking up my sis from the Burbank airport, I was thinking for sure i wasn't going to make it on time with just 30 mins before the screening started and the line to get in was still crazy. Luckily, one of the organizers looked at my ticket and it send Universal invited me and they quickly rushed me into the theater. Ah, the perks of this job. Anyways, I sat down and there was a note written on the screen and it was director M. Night Shymanlan basically telling us "Thank you for attending this early screening and please don't spoil the secrets."

I'm easily Breakable Mutha Fucka!!

So the story of "Glass" is this: Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) finds David Dunn (Bruce Willis) pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb’s (James McAvoy) superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Glass emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

It's been 19 years since the first movie of the Easttrail 177 Trilogy "Unbreakable" and I honestly haven't seen it since it first came out but I remember enjoying it very much and never thinking it was going to be part of a trilogy. The second film "Split" was the first movie I've seen in the Shymalan/Blumhouse partnership but the second film Shymalan has made with Blumhouse Productions after the found footage movie "The Visit". I was amazed by McAvoy's performance as someone with 12 personalities and the transformation he had to accomplish with that character. Finally with "Glass", It all comes full circle and this is Shymalan's real life comic book movie and I think he knocked it out of the park pretty hard with the three main leads all fleshed out and very badass. The MVP is again James McAvoy because you see him go through his personalities in long scenes with the supporting cast. Added to this universe is "American Horror Story's" Sarah Paulson playing Dr. Ellie Staple who tries to convince the main three and everyone else that there superpowers is all in their heads.

This would be the weirdest "Three Amigos" reboot"

For a 2 hour movie it goes by super fast and keeps you occupied to the very end. This is a spoiler free review so I won't give away the BIG secret during the third act but I really liked how things were revealed. Just for now until the movie comes out this Friday, I'll give you the FAKE secret. I'll come back here towards the weekend and talk about the third act. But for now.....The Fake secret: During the climax, Mr. Glass gets up out of his wheelchair and starts doing a little soft shoe dance and admitting he's been faking his bones were brittle all this time. Kevin Crumb sees how amazing Mr. Glass is at dancing so Kevin starts performing "God I Hope I Get It!" from "A Chorus Line" with his 12 personalities and finally David Dunn just turns to the camera and says "Well, there goes the Neighborhood!" cuts the black and credits!

All in All, I really enjoyed this movie a lot and I think M. Night Shymalan working with Blumhouse Productions has been working for him. This feels like his super early films before he became too big for his pants with "Signs". I look forward to his next project with Blumhouse and I hope people enjoy this movie and don't listen to the critics that thought "Glass" was meh.
